1282 Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/R.10.5.39. Replying to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/E.5.5.39, on principle we are opposed to asking the customer to do more than fill up his car with petrol and oil daily in order to obtain his transportation. We think that any form of upper cylinder lubricant is, to a certain extent, likely to be beneficial with regard to cylinder bore wear. We do not think the claim for improved petrol consumption can possibly be substantiated. We should not like to pass any considered opinion on the tests so far carried out, and wrote to Sir Alex. Duckham on the subject, as per the attached copy letter. To make a thorough trial of Adcoids would cost a great deal in time and money. At present we have a very full programme of tests to reduce cylinder bore wear which do not inconvenience a customer. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
