20 HP. CHASSIS. SCUTTLE DASH ATTACHMENT.
---------------------

With reference to C5/c. 8.10.26. the stiffer type steering column will be introduced on production commencing 151st chassis in Series "J". As suggested in EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/6.10.26, we propose to instruct the diagonal stay to be fitted to a chassis with the present type of steering column, but until this has been standardized we shall either have to let coachbuilders carry on as they have done hitherto, or recommend the semi-isolation scheme, but in EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s memo it is stated that the C.S.C. agree that it would be unwise to issue chassis prints showing the semi-flexible arrangement for the first 150 chassis of "J" Series, and then go to total isolation for the 151st chassis onwards.

If, as pointed out by EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, the semi-flexible scheme is unsatisfactory, we consider that it will be advisable to allow coachbuilders to carry on as at present.
