X1110 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/KW.20.6.36. Borg & Beck Clutches. Attached is a copy of a letter to Borg and Beck's which is self-explanatory. The main point is that on the 11" clutch the discs are ground perfectly satisfactorily, but on the 10" owing to another source of supply, the working faces have not been anywhere near parallel. We shall be glad if you will arrange to put the limits on the drawing and to ensure that, at any rate until Borg & Beck's have shown that they can consistently produce what we require, a system of inspection is instituted so that defective assemblies can be returned to them.
