1113 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Cricklewood, Oct. 30th, 1936. Brake Complaints. We have had the London Trials 30 H.P. car in for inefficiency of servo, after 9000 miles. I took the opportunity to see this job through. The results are as follows. (1) Tried the car, when it came in, result, Servo definitely inefficient. (2) Servo dismantled. (a) Servo discs appeared to be in a perfect condition. (b) No fouling of mechanism could be found. (c) Bearing of cam slightly picked up and came out smooth in action. no pitting of balls on cam faces. (d) Cam bearing smoothed up and made to work smoothly. (e) Had the servo re assembled. (3) Test on road. Servo still inefficient. Too much pressure required on pedal especially for final pulling up. (4) Had servo dismantled. found nothing wrong. (5) New woven linings fitted (no other stock here). Would not let them spend time bedding liners. (6) Test on road. Servo efficiency passable, will improve with use. I am sending you the two servo liners taken out for test. It would appear that with frequent town use the co-efficiency drops. If this can be proved, it gives the reason for so many complaints round about this mileage. I should be much obliged if a test could be made quickly. In this report I have stated that I would not let them bed the new liners in. It should not be necessary to bed new liners and I want to cut this out at the Depot. | ||
