To RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} To Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} X.8740. RE CUTOUT CONTACT POINTS. The trouble with the contact points (causing them to stick together) on 46-PK, appears to be that they did not initially meet together centrally. It is intended that there shall be a rubbing action between the points after making and before breaking, but if the axis of the cylindrical surface of the moving contact points is lower than that of the fixed contact point, as on 46-PK, this rubbing action cannot take place correctly. We are now incorporating this point in our production test. In the meanwhile, however, would you kindly arrange to have new points fitted and ask your man to see that they work together in the way desired. Would you please also arrange for all the cutout contact points to be inspected and corrected, where necessary, in the manner described. This may also have been the reason for the contact point failure on 98-NKon which I believe you have now recently changed the distribution box in accordance with EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T8.4.25. EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} | ||
