Phantom III Revised Clutch.

The cost of the revised clutch has been investigated by C/Rb{R. Bowen}, as compared with the present standard Phantom III clutch.

The revised design which incorporates a spring centre will show a saving of approximately £6.0.0 per car; in the event of the spring centre being found unnecessary and replaced by a solid centre this saving would be increased by a further £1.1.6 per chassis.

The revised design incorporates several improvements and cheapening modifications including the following:-

(1) Starter gear ring integral with flywheel.
(2) Wider friction surfaces.
(3) Reduced number of operating fingers.
(4) " " " clutch springs.
(5) Cheapened nose bearing.
(6) Cheapened operating mechanism.
(7) Ventilated clutch.
(8) Increased pedal leverage.
