Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter of the 9th May referring to special composition Tungsten contacts which you fitted to a pair of Watford Magneto contact breakers for us to test. These breakers were fitted to magnetos and have been running, but unfortunately we are unable to trace these identical ones and therefore we cannot say how they behaved. We are, therefore, sending you two more contact breakers of the same type and we shall be glad if you can arrange to fit these with similar contacts.

X.3309. We are making some experiments with various non-oxidisable metals as sparking points with a view to finding the most satisfactory material other than platinum or iridio-platinum, to use for this purpose.* We think in this connection it might be useful to try some Tungsten similar to that you fitted to the contact breakers, and we would therefore, like to know if you can supply us with some Tungsten wire .125" diameter, say a few short lengths of 3 or 4".

With regard to orders and enquiries for insulating tubing or silk tape which you have received from us in times past, we would like to say that there has been no dis-satisfaction with these supplies, but as we are not permitted any further to build land magnetos, we do not require this material.

With regard to enamelled copper wire we will bear in mind that you are able to quote.

Yours faithfully,

* viz. jump spark distributors.
