11th September, 1939

Dear Mr. Robotham,

This is the last letter which I shall be sending you for some time. In common with everyone else I hope that the change in our state and activities will be short but, in any case, I can assure you that "THE MOTOR" will still come out each week and will, I hope, continue to contain matter of real technical interest to you.

In particular, we shall be dealing with problems of fuel economy and alternative fuels, and there will doubtless be quite a number of official regulations which we shall publish and upon which we shall offer advice.

In the meantime I can at least refer now to some of the items which we have had in our last six peace-time issues, including September 5.

We have had one Technical Review (August 8) dealing with small racing cars, and a number of new car announcements. These have been: August 1, Talbot Ten, and unchanged Wolseley range; August 15, Rover, Singer, Citroen; August 22, improved Vauxhalls; August 29, the new Austin Twelve, and slightly modified Alvis range; September 5, new 2-litre Sunbeam Talbot, slightly modified M.G. and unchanged Lagondas.
