I should like to bring to your notice the fact that whilst I agree that the principle of employing an electric tail lamp is good and satisfactory, the present fitting we have is certainly not so, or at all consistent with Rolls-Royce practice in such matters. The fitting is flimsy and capable of absorbing dirt and water at many places where these should not get. For one thing, I think it is wrong to have a 'bayonet socket' fitting on the lamp itself, where - by reason of its position - dirt can easily get in. It would be better to employ a definite screw up contact well protected by some mechanical covering of vulcanite or metal. There are on the market more weatherproof fittings than that which we Handwritten Notes (Left Column): Mr Bamford Let Tech Alter look into this. 2 mean time ask that lamps which P.N advises & get one & have it tested I I F.H Handwritten Reference (Left Margin): X996 Stamp (Left Column): [Circular Stamp] JAN 1911 Footer: This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. | ||
