Coachbuilders Conference No 6 Held at Conduit Street on the 26th September 1919, at 3 p.m. --------------------------- Present:- Lord Herbert Scott (in the Chair) Mr. Nutt. Barkers. Mr. Pearks. V (1) Dash Insulation. Mr. Evernden stated that Mr. Royce wished to standardise the rubber semi-flexible attachment of scuttle dash, and that Derby will supply these parts as soon as they are available. Meantime Barkers will continue the experiment they are carrying out on Lord Herbert Scott's car, in which they have separated the scuttle entirely from the dashboard. X.3642. V (2) Swan neck pipe of the Exhaust. Cases of cars having had cushions burnt and one car having the whole back of the car burnt away, due to contact of the floor and cushions with the Swan Neck of exhaust, were discussed. Mr. Northey suggested that the pipe at the top of the Swan neck might be flat in section in order to gain more clearance. Derby suggested that the form of lapping should be improved. This matter will be taken up further by Derby. (3) Rear Passengers View of the road ahead. The suggestion that the partition behind the driver should be raised a few inches in order to make the view of the XXXXXXXXXX road more difficult to enjoy for the rear passengers, with the object of preventing a knowledge of a possible accident or collision, was discussed, but it was generally believed that the public would not like the innovation; also Barkers consider that it would spoil the lines of their body. It was proposed to do nothing further with it at present. (4) Roof Booming. The matter of roof booming was discussed | ||
