COPY FOR FILES. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1260. & 1315. 22.11.38. SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE TESTS FOR NEW CHASSIS, BEFORE GOING ONTO PRODUCTION. The following points are the suggestions put forward by those responsible for testing the various sections in which they are interested, on new models before they are put into production. Transmission. Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Gearbox. Road - 50,000 miles, including 15,000 in France. Dyno - At 2,000 engine r.p.m. 100 hrs. 3rd. or overdrive full throttle followed by 30 hrs. 2nd. full throttle followed by 8 hrs. 1st. 2nd. speed lift. followed by 1 hr. 1st. full throttle followed by 1 hr. 1st. full throttle (using E.P. lub. 90°C engine oil.) NRC.{N. R. Chandler} Clutch. Traffic tests of clutch. IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rear Axle. Road - 50,000 miles including 15,000 miles in France. Dyno - At 2,000 engine r.p.m. 30 hrs. on 3rd. full throttle followed by 70 hrs. on Top full throttle* and 30 hrs. on 1st. full throttle* (E.P. oil at 90°C.) * This is a separate additional test run on new gears, but all other parts unchanged. It is most easily done by using a larger engine. The axle and gear boxes should be tested up and down mountain roads. IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} | ||
