COPY DUNLOP Rubber Co.Ltd. Fort Dunlop Erdington BIRMINGHAM Ref: TECHNICAL ADVISORY MANAGER WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}CC.10.2212. December 22nd.1922 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. Nightingale Road. DERBY. TYRE PRESSURES Dear Sirs, Your favour of the 16th inst. Ref. ROY{Sir Henry Royce}26/MG15.12.22 addressed to Broad Street Chambers, has been forwarded to us for attention. In the first place we would like to be assured that we are dealing with the same table of pressures. We have issued two editions of "The Care of Tyres" booklet, and in the second edition a material reduction in tyre pressures was made as the result of consideration of the subject in all its aspects. We beg to enclose you herewith a copy showing the latest load schedules and pressures, and shall be glad if you will kindly compare them with those to which you are referring. Consideration of the effect of loads and pressures on Pneumatic Tyres is being continuously undertaken by us, and the latest schedule enclosed is one which we are disposed to regard at present as representing minimum pressures which with Cord Tyres will give economical results under broad average conditions. We do not mean by this that it is impossible for users to adopt lower pressures, or higher loads, but the main difficulty consists in getting users who do this to understand that the result will be a marked decrease in the tyre life with consequent increase in expenditure. -1- | ||
