X832 Expl. Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les.1/MA. January 6th., 1933. The Crosby Valve & Engineering Co.Ltd., 41 & 42, Foley Street, London, W.1. Dear Sirs, We have been testing some of your bellows made to our drawing F.100692 and find that when they are deflected .100" which is the movement required they take a permanent set. This makes the bellows unsatisfactory. We suggest that you should produce a sample more flexible bellows of thinner gauge material for us to test. For such a sample we shall be quite satisfied if you replace the machined ends of the bellows shown on the drawing, by a sheet metal disc one end and a plain ring the other. Perhaps you will be able to let us have various strength bellows for us to test. The bellows should be able to withstand a pressure of 30 lbs/sq.in. from the inside. Owing to the delay caused by the present bellows being unsatisfactory, will you please let us have some more flexible bellows as soon as possible. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
