1. The chassis moves to the body more easily than the body to the chassis.
2. The onus for good coachwork falls wholly on the body builder, who by the alternative sch. would blame us for the mounting.
3. The reduction in price given by the body builder for not mounting the body would not cover the cost of a mounting and finishing dept. at Derby.

(f) For the 1st two experimental cars the writer proposes we build 2 bodies to our design at a RR. coachbuilder who knows the standard of excellence we demand. These cars would then serve as models to show the production body firm what they have to aim at in shape, quality, and finish, but for £150. instead of £400. It would be difficult to get one or two experimental bodies from a production body builder unless we were to accept some standard body and wings from another make of car, generally modified up to fit our chassis. The writer does not like the idea of this.

There are many production body firms in London and the Midlands, or even Messrs. Rootes Ltd. might contract to supply bodies from one of their many sources.

We also understand that the reason for the extension of the P.W. factory is that the Co . have in mind the building of production bodies of high class type for 18HP. chassis - Sunbeam or Talbot being in mind.

They intend to copy the example of such firms as the builders of the Swallow and Avon bodies, which are to be seen on Austin and Standard cars.

B. 2.

This car would call for possibly 2 stock bodies:

(1) Sports Saloon
(2) Open Sports.

The source of supply, the writer suggestes, would be common to that of Per: 2., and that experimental bodies as models would also be made by our pwn trained coachbuilders.
