To PN.{Mr Northey} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} +8900 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG19.1.26. 11-EX CAR. x8900 x8410 With reference to PN{Mr Northey}2/DN5.1.26. We are surprised that you experienced a steering wobble on 11-EX car at 76 m.p.h. When this car was at the Works recently, we ran it at the maximum speed and we could not appreciate that there was any inclination to wobble. The problem of wobbles is still being investigated. At the moment however we do not know how to make the present cars any better. As regards the springing, we think it is interesting to note the difference of opinion in the springing of this car between yourself and CWB. CWB. has quoted 11-EX car as an example of a well-sprung car, whereas from your experience, if that car had been delivered to certain customers, we should have received serious complaints about the springing. Undoubtedly, springs with low periodicity do give passengers that 'cross-Channel' feeling. The effect should be greatly reduced if the rear shock absorbers are set tighter. From the short runs I had in 11-EX car, I should have preferred more damping on the rear shock absorbers. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
