B.60 & B.80.

PL.433 Buick Type Water Pump.

Water Pump & Fan Sec.5160.

With reference to the water pump springs RE.2024/6 issued for the above scheme, and TB/AFB's note to the effect that there is no phosphor bronze material available to produce these parts.

We have been able to obtain a 6 ft. length of phosphor bronze, but the SWG is slightly larger than RE.2024, viz:- 12 SWG (.104) against 13 SWG (.092).

To give similar conditions with the thicker wire, we have detailed the following for use in place of RE.2024 as a makeshift :-

RE.2086 Spring.

As regards RE.2026, we have been unable to find any similar size of wire dia., but as an alternative we have detailed the following in spring steel, with a covering of cadmium plating .001 thick:-

RE.2087 Spring Ring.

We are handing you with this memo a blueprint of RE.2086/7, and the 6 ft. length of wire, which we think will make 5 off RE.2086.

With reference to the Spring Ring RE.2087, these should be handed to H1/EA for plating, and to ensure that the cadmium plating is .001 thick instead of the usual thickness of .0005, please mention that this was the job we discussed with him on the 'phone.
