Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hsl/LG31.3.28. 12-EX PHANTOM FOR 10,000 MILES TEST. X 8940 e This chassis is now completed and has all the new parts fitted to it including the central oiling. It has been necessary to make new wings and valances etc. The bodywork will be completed by the end of next week. The engine bearings on this engine have no oil grooves - it is arranged similar to the latest aero engine practice with pipes to the crank pins. The chief reason for the delay on this car is that we have not been satisfied with the new type slipper wheel and spring drive, although one has to be critical to note the difference, the results are not quite as good as with the standard. The next time the car runs it will have the spring plate for the drive in place of the serrations. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
