ACCIDENT TO 12-GIV.

Whilst driving from the Kedleston Rd. to the Works at 1.45 p.m. on October 31st. 12-GIV was involved in an accident. An errand boy, L. Draper of 29 Clover St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} was cycling with a companion down Leyland St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} I was driving along Cowley St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} at about 15 M.P.H. The two boys swung out of the end of Leyland St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} without any warning with the intention of turning up Cowley St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} in the direction from which I was coming. I immediately swung the car on to full right lock to avoid a collision and crossed the road, the front wheels mounting the pavement. The car travelled less than 10 yards after the brakes were applied. The boy was unable to stop and ran into the N.S. rear wing of the car, denting it and damaging his bicycle slightly. His only injury appeared to be a bruised knee, the skin was not broken.

The boy works for :-

Messrs. Plant & Stretton,
13, Cheapside,
Derby.

MR. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Hagley, Andrews Garage, London Rd. Derby, arrived on the scene immediately after the accident and saw what happened though not very clearly.
