To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X5310 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer},2/MJ.19.4.32. RATTLES IN THE TRANSMISSION. The Repair Dept. have put a second customer's car up to us where the owner has complained of booms and rattles in the transmission. We have circulated a Standardisation Sheet (X.5310) on this subject, and you have a copy of the sketch Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}526 shewing how the damper was fitted to the propeller shaft. We should be pleased if you would arrange with the D.O. to have the parts from this sketch properly detailed, or the design modified to suit your requirements, so that the Repair Dept. may be able to apply this as a standard cure in cases of complaint.
