re. 20-HP Dynamo Failures.

With reference to EFC's report on the above, reference EFC1/T1.10.23 - in this report there are tests made which appear to have overcome some of the troubles which we are now experiencing with these dynamos in service and which I feel must, judging from experience we are now having, and the information we are receiving, be viewed with alarm.

Is it not possible that we can have instructions from you which we can act upon on cars which come into our hands, and also arrange for our Depots to do the same whereby an improvement of the brush fitting can be obtained, by the sloping of the top of the brush where the spring fits so as to obtain more definite fitting of the brush as suggested by EFC. Also we should arrange for the present fuse wire used in the field of the system to be reduced and final wire fixed, i.e. 40 S.W.G in order to eliminate the trouble we are experiencing owing to the faulty circuit, i.e. faulty contact of the negative brush or broken negative wires etc.
