X.2494.

Thank you for your very complete information regarding moulded insulation, it has been most useful.

We now feel that we are reasonably up-to-date in our knowledge of these matters, and we are producing a certain number of Bakelite pieces at our own Works.

We quite agree we should not do this if we were in the same position as you are in America who can get such work done reasonably quickly. At present we have no means of getting it done at all by outsiders, so are forced either to abandon making any electrical parts, or equip ourselves with the plant suitable for the small mouldings we require.

The utility of the system introduced by the Bakelite Company of producing a finished moulding direct from the mould seems invaluable. We had thought originally that these were easily obtainable, but we found that the Derby works were not getting what we had anticipated, and the work on parts was costing a fabulous sum.
