Dear Mr. Johnson, After my telephone conversation with you yesterday I telegraphed to the Works to know whether they would supply me with the set of tyres free, so that I could supply them to you for test purposes. I got their agreement last night, and I have pleasure in informing you that I am sending on a credit note for the amount to Derby. At the same time I would like to say that it was not with this intention that I first approached you a week or ten days ago. As I stated at the time, I have been a customer of yours for many years now, and this is the first time that I have really asked your firm to reciprocate a little, in however small a way it was, in buying some of our goods. I think you will agree that it is only business; one likes to get a little help from a firm that one does business with oneself, and I therefore trust that, providing our tyres give the results that we feel confident they will give, that in the near future we shall be favoured with a few orders, however small, from your goodselves. At the same time I should like to know whether the letter I wrote you the other day offering you tyres for your test cars at an economical rate, appeals to you in any way.
