TROUBLES ON CARS IN SERVICE For some time now, a determined effort has been made to get down to the many troubles which have cropped up on cars in service, and we feel that much progress has been made in finding cures for various ailments and in the dissemination of this knowledge for the benefit of Depots for application to existing cars. At the same time, a good deal more remains to be done, and, as it is realized that the cost of service is one of the major items adversely affecting the possibility of making our motor car business profitable, it is becoming of increasing importance that we should maintain an efficient organisation for keeping track of every complaint and for re-relating complaints with the Design Dept. As you know, this organisation already exists, but it is proposed to extend it so that we shall know not only what our total F.O.C expenditure is (which information is of course already available), but what individual complaints or troubles are costing us, and exactly how many of each there are. In other words, we want a more complete "bird's-eye view" of the whole of our service troubles, and we want this picture to be constantly up-to-date and in the right perspective, so that we shall always be able to see at a glance exactly where we stand.
