we have been held up since Sunday, working on the clutch and brakes. The work has taken longer than was expected. I had reckoned on resuming the mileage at noon today, but it will be morning before doing so.

We have rebedded all the brakes, had a bridge welded on the anchor bridge piece to prevent it bending. To prevent the shafts bending which they do without any load on, I have made a supporting bracket from off the top of the gearbox, over the servo with a bearing on the shaft. This prevents the servo shafts from unduly bending and gives a true horizontal working condition. with these modifications I am hoping we shall have better braking.

We have also spent two days repairing and strengthening the N.S. front wing. This had cracked at evry holding down bolt, and half way down the wing a crack had started and crept half way across the wing. in another two or three days there would have been no wing left.
