AMERICAN ALTERATIONS.

Referring to BJ4/H24923, the position in regard to the alterations put forward by America is,that in all cases where Mr Royce suggests that the alteration is agreed to, we have arranged with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that a standardisation sheet shall be issued and according to whether the standardisation sheet is fully signed up, or not, the alteration will be adopted or abandoned.

In regard to those alterations eminating from America, since they have already been before Mr Royce and have received his sanction, or otherwise, and as they were considered of sufficient importance to put before him, none of them would come under the second heading by which I took full responsibility for the alteration being made.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is actually at the moment, issuing standardisation sheets - I have had a batch of these myself to sign already, and therefore these American alterations will follow the ordinary routine outlined above.

In certain cases the alteration is slight and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} considers that it is quite reasonable to issue a standardisation sheet on the basis of the American experience without any running at Derby, but in every case where a real issue is raised he will not issue a standardisation sheet until he has made up and tested parts in accordance with the American proposal.
