BY Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Edwards EDWARDS See me Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ------------------------------------------------ Car Universal Single Cylinder Unit. High Power Head Development. In discussion with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} it was agreed that the modified parts for the development of the above cylinder head would be dealt with by the Design Office, and the following instructions supersede those in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ED.{J. L. Edwards}16/JH.4.8.36 and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ED.{J. L. Edwards}11/KW.18.8.36. We send you herewith two prints of RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}310 of a new inlet valve rocker for the single inlet valve head. Instead of making a variable valve lift mechanism for this head which might give trouble due to the design limitations imposed by the space available, it was agreed to make a new rocker with a longer arm on the push rod side which sould reduce the lift from .400" to .350". We also understand that there is no cylinder block available for the High Power Heads and we should be pleased if you would complete one of the partly machined blocks to EB.1993 modified to Ex17163 to take a 1.5" diameter salt cooled exhaust valve to Ex17162 as soon as possible. It will also be necessary to make all new parts and fittings associated with the cylinder block. E/PSN. | ||
