GEAR BOX NOISES.

Referring to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}11/H.19.3.26. the position in regard to the noise referred to as "bricks in the gear box" is, that we are fairly satisfied that it is located in the ball bearing.

We are quite sure it has nothing to do with dirt in the ball bearing, but further than that we cannot go.

We know that it is not detrimental to the bearing itself, and although I have an idea of what is causing the trouble, I have not so far been able to definitely prove that what I suggest is the cause really exists.

In the meantime, I am buying some more bearings from the Hoffman Company, treated in a special way, which in this case will cover the whole of the gear box unit, and therefore I think the proposal will eliminate the trouble.
