Do not let connections depend on pressure on insulations.

Speaking generally I should prefer to fix the base to the chassis and then make the wire connections at the front, and then put the cover on.

Pivot pin fast in armature.

Flex: same as brush holders.

Central spring.

Contact plate extended sideways for downward contacts.

Case nearly or quite a circle.

Rather small dia. of coils & longer.

Simple spring, no plunger, half in each.

Probably not continuous because insulation.

Spread out sideways.

Battery of flex: suitable for 100 amps

This is the most inexpensive and efficient type of magnet, better than solenoid, because less friction, but one could use such if found more suitable.

This is enough to give you a new start.
