Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.15/MH.{M. Huckerby} 30th. March 1938. The Projectile & Engineering Co. Ltd., Acre Street, Battersea, LONDON, S.W.8. Dear Sirs, Torque Arms FB.2924. We are informed by our Accounts Dept. that they are as anxious as yourselves that the matter should be completed concerning the payment of the above torque arms. Although we do not want to appear to be misbelieving, it is difficult to understand that the .104" thick material torque arms cost nearly £6 each and the thinner members £7 each, when you had spent as much as 25% of production tool cost for temporary tools. If as your letter of the 18th. of February indicates, there was considerable development work required for the first 6 torque arms, it is strange that the second 6 thinner members should be even more expensive. We had hoped to pay you a visit last week concerning this matter, as we are sure you will agree that at Derby it is not easy to understand the difficulties you may have had. However, as we are very keen to settle this matter we are handing the correspondence to our Secretary, who will communicate with you very shortly. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
