Failure involving pinion movement, spline fretting, and excessive vibration in a wheelcase.

LF/HWS.9/GB.14.11.38. No.2. had become free and permitted some movement of the pinions on their splines. It appears that this failure was due to race "creep" in the new design and had produced appreciable fretting of the splines.
