PETROL GAUGE. V3896 Y7460

The petrol gauge on 12-EX. was fitted with cork washers on either side of the glass which were found to be too weak. One of them had broken.

It is understood that you are trying petrol resisting for rubber/these washers, and an alternative is copper asbestos. We understand however with reference to the latter that you have found it is not sufficiently water and petrol tight.

The gauge had the defect that when the lower cork washer was removed the glass touched the screw clamping the finger. According to the arrangement drawing this should not happen even when there is no washer, and we presume some-thing had gone wrong in the dimensions.

With reference to the dial, the white enamelled dial is the one preferred. Could you get us an example having the figures inside the calibrated circle like the figures of a watch. The pointer would then cover the actual figure wanted, but the whole of the remaining figures should be more visible.

We have a sample dial rather like this which we believe is fitted to the 20HP. We suggest that in this case there is no need for the inner circle.

It is understood that the red figures indicating the reserve will be deleted and replaced by black.
