Re Suggestion Y .422. - Artesian Wells.

With reference to the Artesian Well suggestion by the Electrician, Handley, I think we ought to have some record so that these suggestions should not be repeatedly made, or paid for, because, anyone who would become cunning, would get to know a lot through the general talk in the Works of what had been suggested, and money paid for, and after twelve months would resuggest them.

Of course, I do not wish to imply that this has been done in this particular case, far from it, but suggestions like patents which are not novel should not be paid for. Moreover, a Record Book, should be kept in which they are entered, and can be referred to by the Management, and shown to whoever makes the suggestion.

This particular suggestion was previously made by Mr. Nadin, but I do not know that the cost was found for adopting it.

The Corporation should be consulted as to what concession on water they would make us before we put down a well, because they have plenty of water at their disposal, and ought not to charge such large and constant users as
