To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} GRY{Shadwell Grylls} LES x346 Copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RRC. E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MN.10.2.36. Rear Roll Rod. Phantom III. We send you herewith LeC 4985 showing a silent block bearing to the rear roll rod of Phantom III. The bracket for the bearing is made from the same pressing as at present used. The silent block bearing is the same as that proposed for use on the front roll rod. This change would cheapen the job materially and does away with some of the centralised chassis lubrication pipes. We shall shortly send you a scheme for a rubber bearing connecting link for both the front and rear roll rods, so as to remove the whole of the centralised chassis lubrication from these features. As a similar silent block bush on the rear roll rod has proved satisfactory when tested on a car, we anticipate that there is reasonable hope for success from this scheme.
