RE. AUTO CHARGE SWITCH - SECTION 7360

First impression of this on 364-FM is:-

(1) Position chosen for switch on dash is awkward for position of foot on brake pedal.

(2) The reduction in charge is too great for our uses. With the double DeJon ignition, lamp for gasoline gauge etc. there is about 6 amps being used all the time.

The ammeter therefore will show intermittent discharge of about 4 to 5 amps.

It would seem better to keep the charge up to 7 - 8 amps when switch has operated. That is reduce resistance winding of switch to about 3 - 4 bhms.

This would then keep a minimum "trickle charge" of 1 to 2 amps flowing into the battery at all times.

(3) A very interesting detail is the necessity of mounting the horn on the cylinder head to prevent its vibration disturbing the auto-switch. When the horn is mounted in this way instead of on the dash, the noise within the car when blowing the horn is much less, which I think is a real advantage from the passengers' point of view.
