R.R. 235A (100 T) (S.H. 159. 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Handwritten: X8470 ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/M5.12.25. Handwritten: X788 X718 X8470 Mr. Minchin has obtained some figures, timed by one of the Brooklands timekeepers - Mr.McConnell - for pulling up distance on his Phantom. They took various tests. From 35 MPH. the car stopped in 36 ft., and from 25 MPH. it stopped in 19 ft. These figures agree very closely with a braking curve of the three litre Bentley which was published in the "Motor" on Nov. 24. We have pointed out to Mr. Minchin that the co-efficient of friction is more than 1. He is using these pulling up figures in his defence against a charge of dangerous driving on Monday next. I am sending this information in case it may be of interest. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} (Signature) | ||
