This is the car from which Ratcliffe removed the Hancock shoes.

I have just tried it after the brakes had been watered and consider the "juddering" when pulling up is not quite so intense at the commencement, but on the last movement of the car it appears to be just as bad as before.

As far as overcoming the "juddering" is concerned, I do not think that this could be looked upon as being a sufficient improvement to warrant our doing it on all cars.

Incidentally, it took very much longer for the "juddering" to completely vanish and the brakes got to a fairly high temperature.

Ratcliffe is arranging to put back the Hancock shoes and return to Derby tomorrow.
