OPEN TRIALS 'PHANTOM. 103-MC.
With reference to BJ8/DN7.9.25 attached to which is Rl/M3.9.25. Our experience up-to-date is that we have never yet experienced a high speed wobble when using accurately balanced tyres with the standard section, even although the tyre pressure has been 40 lbs.
At the moment however there is no complete explanation for the high speed steering wobble, therefore, although we have never experienced it, we think it is possible for a set of conditions to arise when the wobble would build up with balanced wheels and low pressure in the standard tyres.
The chief reason for recommending the high pressure was for the fact that even if the wheels were out of balance, high pressure in the tyres will reduce the tendency to wobbles.
We consider that on Trials Cars, where there is no excuse whatever for the wheels not being accurately balanced, they could be run with low pressures.
