44571 H3 To [redacted] from St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Copy to Mr. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [redacted] re Vickers Machine in The King's Cup Race. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/29.7.29 You will, I am sure, have been as disappointed as I was to hear and read in the Press that the above machine with RR engine had to retire owing to engine trouble. This is particularly unfortunate seeing that it is practically the first public performance of the new 'F' engine. I gather that the first trouble was a radiator leak which of course was nothing to do with the engine but apparently some other troubles developed afterward. I have seen EPC/HR.7.29 but gather that we do not yet definitely know what caused the machine to have to retire. I presume you will be having an investigation made and I should be glad to hear the result as soon as possible. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
