STRICTLY SECRET. R2/M31.12.27. REC'D & DESPATCHED FROM WW. 6.1. 28. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) [Stamp: ORIGINAL] [Struck-through text: C. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}] [Handwritten: Y7770] EAC.10. SUPER SPORTS MODEL. EAC.7. is so encouraging that we ought to strain every nerve to get the above quickly. Certain few parts are common to this and present production, such as front axle, etc. These could go ahead, but most of the present parts should only be ordered to meet the demand in sight, and the stock of cars should be reduced, so that: (1) Present parts kept as low as possible. (2) Output of cars reduced to use up stock. (3) Press forward EAC.10. and parts to the modifications embodied. To sum up in a few words - (1) make the earliest and quickest change possible, (2) reduce stock in anticipation. It will increase difficulties if - (a) we have much stock, (b) if changes hang about for a long time. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
