Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Instrument Board. Sec.7100. --------------------- Replying to Btn 4. June 19/30. (1) The second experimental car 25-RX has the instrument board of D.Sch.Alc. This uses present standard parts with one or two additions. When you see it I think you will agree with opinion here, that it is very good looking. The circular top and bottom of the Hobson gauge opening had already been provided. Back lighting for this is scarcely possible and does not appear necessary. Flood lighting from under the cowl bar appears as though it would be acceptable. (2) Instrument finish is standard black with white figures and pointers. On this particular car it would not be possible to apply alternative finishes without delay. However, if approved for production, it will be possible to supply the two alternatives, namely - Silver finish with matt face and black letters with silver mounting, or - "Venetian cream" dials in a black mounting with black surround to the frame as at present. When you see the board would suggest that a note of proposals for alternative finishes should be prepared in some detail, for example - Silver finish: Should handles be bright or black? Cream finish: Should control switch and Hobson gauge frame be cream with black handles, etc? cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
