V1588 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid{A. J. Lidsey} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}14/T4.9.33. BENTLEY LUBRICATING OILS. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}3/KT29.7.33. This is to confirm what I have already reported to you on the 'phone, that although we tested a Bentley axle with the sample of Mobiloil "EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}" supplied, the test was not conclusive as unfortunately a certain amount of Wakefields No.1. Gearease Oil was present in the axle, owing to the fact that it is a standard practice to smear a certain amount of this oil on the gears during assembly. As we were at the end of the 15 chassis we were unable to make a further test. Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} [Signature] | ||
