Maximum power was finally obtained by using an Eagle IX carburetter having 1.8" dia. choke, bolted direct to the induction manifold in place of the twin carburetter. This reduced our induction pipe depression from 3.35" Hg. when using twin carburetters with 1.400" dia. chokes to 2.35" Hg. at 3500 R.P.M.

The power developed at 3000 RPM. was 180.3 BHP. or 101.7 BMEP. as against 130 BHP. or 73.4 MEP. obtained with a standard engine with open exhaust.

Curve No.2 shows a comparison with the complete exhaust system and cut-out open with the twin carburetter having 1.3" dia. chokes. All curves 1A, 2A, 3A are the corresponding MEP's to the curves 1. 2 and 3.
