HYPOID REAR AXLE. Herewith we send N. sch. 3206. - Rear axle centre casing. This is somewhat modified from the 25HP. because the larger axle shafts increase the differential and its bearings, and the 4.5 litre enginemakes it desirable to increase the pinion thrust bearing to make it comparable with P. 2. The pinion thrust bearing housing is an adaption (to suit larger dimensions) of that on N. sch. 2990. (Dec. 1929.) which we believed was never used. it appears to avoid the defects which came up in the scheme shewn on G.53920. (which was condemned by R.{Sir Henry Royce}) we should like more information on this point, viz: what modifications were made by RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} and were they a successful.
