COPY FOR FILES. 408. 26th. April 1938. BENTLEY III. S.U.Carburetter High Pressure Pump .125 needle seating. level set 1/16" below top of jet tube. SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} of fuel .745. Thrust requd. at needle to destroy float buoyancy at flloding point = 47 grs. In order to cover an extremely bad float mechanism assume thrust at needle to be = 43 grs. Head in feet of petrol reqd. to flood carb = 24 ft. Inspection of several needles and seats show that seats have a poor finish. The breather pipes situated on the top of the float- chambersare too small in the bore and being interconnected create a partial flooding when the high pressure pumps are switched on. This has been taken up with the design office. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe} | ||
