X.4342S. COPY OF LETTER FROM :- S. SMITH & SONS (M.A.) LTD. CENTRAL WORKS, EDGEWARE ROAD, CRICKLEWOOD, LONDON. N.W.2. Our ref. CL/JB? August, 25th, 1921. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Sirs, X.4359S. X.4342S. For the attention of Mr. Whitehead. RE order 5535 of 4.7.21. We are in receipt of your favour of the 24th instant with reference to the special Model 4D dynamo required against the above order. We have had some correspondence with our Mr. Fowler Clark on this matter, in which we pointed out that we could not comply with the curve which he requires of this size of machine. What we are doing, however, is to put through a machine representing the best that we can get from a dynamo of this size. The delay has been occasioned by the fact that we have had to make some special new armature discs, in order that the machine submitted to you should represent the best that can be made of its size, as we do not think it advisable to submit to you our ordinary production machine. We hope to be able to get the dynamo through in the course of the next week. With reference to the Model 3S Starter, we are awaiting delivery of the special parts which you are making for this machine, and note that you will send these to us in the course of the next few days. Yours faithfully, p.p. S. SMITH & SONS (M.A.) LTD. (Sgd) ARCHIBALD C. LOCK Manager, Electrical Dept. | ||
