miles attention was paid to the N.S. damper through loss of poundage. The poundages at the finish of the test were :-

O.S. Low Pressure 52 lbs.
O.S. High Pressure 70 lbs.
N.S. Low Pressure 50 lbs.
N.S. High Pressure 65 lbs.

We found upon dismantling, that foreign matter had hammered into the valve seatings which was the cause of loss of poundage. The general condition of the dampers were very good. There was no slack in the connecting link joints. The pistons were slightly scored. The filters had collected a fair amount of fluff and grit. The spring loaded connecting links were in good condition, lubrication of the contacts was ample.

REAR SHOCK DAMPERS to LOP F.56649.

(1) scheme 1312 spring Loaded Connecting Links.
(2) F.57380 Intermediate Lever (B/ZNX) replaces F.56357. (B/N)
(3) Air Vent Ball valve Lift restricted to .010". Loads set, Low Pressure 36 lbs. High Pressure 60 lbs.

The rear shock dampers have been free from knocks throughout the mileage. Very little oil was lost. The total amount of oil added to front and rear throughout the mileage was .00396 of a gallon. At 6,000 miles, attention was paid to both dampers, the N.S. having lost poundage and the O.S. with trapped air. The poundages at the finish of the test were :-

O.S. Low Pressure 35 lbs.
O.S. High Pressure 55 lbs.
N.S. Low Pressure 30 lbs.
N.S. High Pressure 50 lbs.

We found upon dismantling that foreign matter hammered into the seats was the cause of the failure of the poundage. The O.S. piston showed definite signs of cross bedding. A slight amount of slack, not measureable, had developed in the links of the O.S. The N.S. showed no wear. The N.S. piston was slightly scored. The filters had collected fluff and foreign matter.
