W/P. - Sr. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}8/JH.15.10.36. X1265 Paris Demonstration Bentley. Some time ago we forwarded to you a pair of 35° servo cams and altered rear idler levers for the above car, to give a higher proportion of braking front to rear, than is standard. We understand that since fitting these parts you have been somewhat troubled by smoking of the front brakes. In order to cure this complaint, and also so that we may gain experience with our aluminium drums, we are going to send you shortly a set of the latter together with new Ferodo linings for use with them, new steering arms, and a set of anti-judder parts. We should be glad to hear in due course if you get excessive contraction crackling noises after brake applications. You will understand that these drums have been prepared for normal braking ratios, and that you will be slightly overheating the front drums. We think you should encounter no trouble, so long as you do not allow the rivets to score the front drums due to the increased rate of wear of the front Ferodo linings.
