Mr. Burton,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce of America Inc.
Springfield,
Mass.

Dear Sir,

Following on the return of Mr. Hives we have been advised that you have six 20/25 HP. cars, for instance CLR-57, 27, 60, 61, 29, 31, of which you consider the dynamos to be of insufficient output and further we have been asked to provide you with an instruction for modification of the machines together with curves showing the result to be expected from such modification. This request has been confirmed by Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}

In this connection the D.O. have produced at our request a print D.62129 two copies of which are now being sent to you. This print gives details of a modification to the pole pieces of the existing machines which enables a greater output to be obtained though at some loss of cutting in speed.

In order that you may know the alteration to the output curve to be expected from this modification, we are further sending you two blue print copies of the set of curves. On this set of curves, for your purposes, curve labelled II must be ignored as it refers to the output obtainable with a later type of armature.
