I give below copy of BJ12/D12.12.27 :-

"Please let me know if at any time you can suggest any method which may expedite the finishing or type testing of the 'F' engine, bearing in mind that all this time we are losing about £1,000 a day on account of the delay in the 'F' engine alone."

"Also, if there is anything we can do to expedite the finishing of the Sports chassis as, here again, we are undoubtedly losing business for every day that we cannot show this car to the public. It has been a great calamity that owing to xx our having nothing to manufacture at Derby, other than our standard chassis, we have had to sack over 600 men, and are still sacking them. This is impressed on us still more xx when we realise that Faireys have received an order for 100 machines to take the Napier 'Lion', and this is keeping both their Companies full up with work whilst we are idle".

"We, of course, realise that the delay in the 'F' engine has been due to all the alterations made by the A.M; and all we can do now is to just see that not a moment is lost at Derby in completion, and therefore, I know I can reply on you continually to impress this on every official at the Works who has any influence in expediting completion".

BJ.

I shall be glad of the latest information anyone can give me on this subject.
