4462 To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}21/KW.21.9.34. Referring to Lord Rothes' car which will be here to-morrow, the 22nd inst., he mentioned the following points to me :- (1) There is a slight, but definite, piercing whistle in the back carden joint which seems to come on and go off for no particular reason, and in spite of repeated doses of both thick and thin oil. (2) There is a bolt in the scuttle under the dash which squeaks badly, and which I think wants renewing. (3) The feed pipe to the carburetter has got an ugly bit of solder on it, and I would like a new pipe. (4) We suspect the clutch is beginning to slip, and would like to seen to, please. Also compensation of brakes. (5) I should like a "stop" light fitted if possible. I think he has done about 16,000 miles without having anything done to the car, even a decarbonise, but the chauffeur will be able to tell you more details about this. He wants to have the car back on October 8th. He is anxious, unless you find something seriously wrong, not to spend more than about £40 on the car. As he will be away on holiday and inaccessible, he has asked me to agree with you what should be done. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
